Somewhat surprisingly, this week has seemed to go by quickly so far. It’s already Thursday! I’m really looking forward to this weekend because Thanksgiving is one of my favourite holidays! Probably second only to Christmas.
This weekend, we are planning to do some errands and cleaning up around the house on Saturday. Sunday, I have to bake some pumpkin pies and then we’re going to my aunt and uncles cottage for Thanksgiving dinner in the late afternoon. Monday, we’re going to Carlos’ parents house for Thanksgiving dinner with them. So, it will be a delicious turkey-filled weekend with family. I can’t wait!
One week from today is our follow-up ultrasound. I am actually feeling pretty calm about the whole situation right now. Google scared me since apparently these two abnormalities can be ‘soft markers’ for chromosomal defects such as Down Syndrome and Trisomy 18, but I’m sure if the baby did have a problem like that, there would have been other things come up on the ultrasound (i.e. heart defects, structural abnormalities, etc.). And they are only ‘soft markers’ which means they are not a strong indication of an increased risk. I am really thankful that we are going to a doctor for this ultrasound since then we can ask him any questions we have and he can tell us exactly what he sees. He’s been around a long time, so I’m sure he’s seen this a lot, so even if the issues are still there, we can find out exactly what that means in terms of long-term effects. So, I think either way, I will feel much better after the ultrasound since at least then we’ll know what we’re dealing with.
Carlos and I both have friends who have recently had babies. My friend had a baby boy on Saturday, and Carlos’ friend had a baby boy on Tuesday. Very exciting! It seems that of all the friends we’ve known to have babies in the last year or so, almost all of them have had boys (I think the ratio is about 8:3). Which I thought was very interesting. Makes me curious as to whether we’ll go with the trend of having a boy or if we’ll be one of the few to have a girl. I guess we’ll find out in a little less than 4 months!
Oh, and here's something exciting: we now have a Costco Wholesale in town! Yay! And it's only 5 minutes from my work! Very convenient! It opened on Thursday, and we decided to pop in on Sunday afternoon and it was quite busy. I'm sure the craziness will die down a bit once it has been open for awhile. I'm excited!
Hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving!
