Anybody used Crest Whitestrips?

I was at my dentist’s office this morning for my 9-month checkup, and I was asking them about teeth whitening. Since I have my wedding in less than 3 months, I would like my teeth looking their best for the big day. They do 2 types of whitening there, they say the best way is with the trays that they custom make and then you put the gel in yourself and wear them overnight for a couple of weeks. This system has a high initial cost, but then you have the trays for years and just need to buy the gel for $20 each time to touch-up once or twice a year. And of course, health insurance doesn’t cover this since it’s cosmetic work. Bummer.

This system is quite a bit more initially that the Crest White strips, but apparently has better and longer-lasting results. I was wondering if any of you have used Crest White strips and if so, did they work well? How long did the whitening last?

I don't know about the white-strips but I've used the whitening gel...I was my dad's guinea pig when they first came out on the market (I think he used Rembrandt on me).

Anyways the gel worked VERY well. It lasted a very long time, and I imagine that it lasts even longer now that the technology has improved during the last 10+ years.

I've also used the Colgate brush on gel. It sucks.

When you say you've used the whitening gel and it worked very well... is that the gel that you put in trays that you wear overnight for a period of several days?

Glad to know the Colgate brush on gel sucks, because that was something else I was considering. I'll know to stay away from that!

Yup. My dad made me a retainer type thing to put the gel into...I'm guessing that's the tray?

Anyways, it was so portable and easy. I would wear it to bed, and even when I went running.

But he doesn't get free samples anymore, and he won't give it to me for free because it is pricey...so that ended that.

Is your dress white, diamond white or ivory?

Thanks Burger, that helps a lot! My mom also has the same thing, she had the trays made probably 10 years ago now, so for my wedding, she's just going to get more gel and then she's good to go!

I think I will likely get the trays for the gel as well. Seems like it's very effective!

My dress is white. So any discolouration on my teeth will seem exaggerated when compared to the white of my dress.

Yeah, some of my photos show some discolouring as well (my dress was also white).

Good on you! I hope you like it as much as I did.

Good luck with the whitening! I haven't used any whitening products, so I'm no help at all...
