This has been a really long week for me. I think I just need a break from work. I still like my job, I just need a break. I’m so glad I’m taking next Friday off! And this weekend couldn’t come soon enough… only 8 hours until the weekend ;)
This weekend will prove to be a busy one, I’m sure. Saturday, I have to help my mom clean the house for Oma’s party the next day. We’re also taking a break from cleaning to have a little birthday party for CT. So that will be nice. I have it on good authority that he will be receiving a whack of money in Future Crap gift cards, so I’m sure he’ll love that since he can get accessories/games for his new XBOX!
Then Sunday is the big party/open house for Oma’s 80th birthday (her actual birthday is on Tuesday). We are expecting around 30-40 people to show up, so it will be nice… I don’t think Oma has any idea the scale of this gathering!
I think as part of my present to Oma, I am going to offer to help her with her finances long-term. She needs help. She just can’t cope with the stress of it anymore. She’s constantly forgetting things, even after 2 minutes. I think at this point in her life, she should just be able to enjoy herself and spend time with those she loves and not have to constantly worry about whether she’s remembered to pay her bills. She certainly is losing her mind, which is quite sad. Just the other day, we realized that her drivers license expired a year ago. She’s been driving with an expired license for a year! When she went to renew it this week, they would only give her a temporary one since she needs to take a driving test since she’s turing 80. Which I think it great. I certinaly do not think she should be driving anymore, so I am hoping she won’t pass the test. That way it’s the ministry that will be making that decision and we don’t have to. I would be very surprised if she passed because she has become a horrible driver lately.
So that’s my weekend in a nutshell. Oh, in other news, I stop wearing my splint today! For the past 2 weeks, I have just been wearing it at night, and I stop that today. My finger is getting better, I still can’t bend it fully, but it is getting there. I go back to the doctor in another week and a half and he’ll assess at that point whether I will need physio. I’m thinking likely not, but we’ll see.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

That's so sad about your Oma. It sucks watching them go downhill.
Unfortunately, her exam is only a written exam. Once you turn 80, you need to write the test every 2 years (though I really think it should be a driving exam). This year my grandma will be turning 86. I'm hoping she hands me her keys and forgos the test, but I won't hold my breath. Elderly women are stubborn!
I hope the party goes well, and glad that your finger is healing!
OOps that was Burger.
Yes, it is really sad. Especially since her house is attached to my parents, so I see her at least once a week, sometimes more. It's really hard to watch. She has really aged a lot in the last 2 years.
I didn't realize the test was only written. That's too bad. She really shouldn't be driving anymore, so maybe she won't even pass the written test...
