Got the results!

I just heard back from my doctors office. She said my Hcg levels rose well, so she said congratulations! Now it's REALLY official! My first appointment with her is Thursday, June 19th (so I’ll be at 7 weeks by then). My doctor doesn't deliver babies, but she can refer me to an OB either right away, or after 3 months. I asked about what if I wanted to go with a midwife, and she said that I could talk that over with my doctor at my appointment. But, I'm thinking I should call the midwives and see if I can get in to at least meet them before my appointment with my doctor because by then I'll know whether I'm going with them or if I am going to go with an OB. I can always change my mind later after I talk with my doctor, but I don't want to wait too long and risk missing out on the midwife option.

So YAY!!!! I thought the results would come back okay, I was just glad to hear it FOR SURE!!!!!!!

EDIT 11:53am

I just called the midwife practice and they took all my info and will call me back in about a week and a half to let me know if there is a spot available. I can't imagine they would be all booked up already for my due date range, but I know they only take on a certian number of patients because they want to be sure they can be present for the birth. So, we'll see.

Niki, I wanted to ask you... what happened at your first prenatal appointment? The reason I ask is I'm wondering if CT should come with me.

James came to all my appointments that he was available for. They are mostly routine - get weighed, pee in a cup (check for protien), listen to heartbead (not for the first appt). They may send you for some bloodwork. There are certain test that are done at specific times of the pregnancy (later on) - such as the GDS (gestational diabetes screen). Now, I did have a Pap at my first prenatal... but only because I was over-due for one. I think it's good for the Dad to come to the appointments, if he can.

Does that answer your question? Oh - I always went into my appointment with a written list of questions for my doctor (questions, concerns, etc.). Trust me... as your pregnancy progresses, you will lose your mind (literally!)... and I have yet to fully regain mine. ;)

Thanks Niki, that is very helpful. I think CT will come with me to as many appointments as he can. He is very involved in this whole process, which I think is great!
