Happy Birthday Smokey

Today is Smokey’s 2nd birthday. I feel really lucky to have him since we almost lost him last March. But, he’s gone almost a year without a relapse, so that’s good news! I guess the special food must be doing its job!

What a weekend! We were planning on going out on Saturday night for our 6-month anniversary, but the weather was just too awful, even to walk. None of the sidewalks were plowed and the snow was about knee-deep, so it would have taken us forever to get downtown, so we just decided to stay cozy and warm inside. So we played PS2 together instead ;)

Yesterday, CT spent 2 hours shoveling just so we could get Zeke out of the driveway (I helped as much as I could with my finger). CT still has to dig his car out this morning, his car was absolutely buried! The only part of his car that was visible was the roof; the rest was completely buried. It was nuts! I have never seen anything like it!

I did use the time at home to get back into using my treadmill, I used it twice this weekend and am really proud of myself for that.

So now it’s back to work. On Friday, I got 5 reports out in draft, so that felt really good. I have another 3 to try to get out this week, so it’s going to be a busy week! So far, I haven’t had to work much overtime, but this week may be different! We’ll see how it goes.

We had to shovel twice on Saturday and once on sunday. Each time took about 1 hour with two people working. Thats a total of 6 shovelling hours! Insanity. It is official. KW has had the most snow this year since they started recording snow amounts in the 30s. I guess Woodstock would be the same, but we don't have a weather station.

Same for Peterborough. We've had the most snow this season since 1939 or something like that. It's crazy!

Toronto is still 12 cm from the record. But I have faith. We can totally beat that. ;)

Incidentally, our snow piles are now almost as tall as me. :|

I hear you all on the shovelling front.

One of our snow piles is well over 6 ft. When throwing snow onto said pile, I have to jump for extra momentum. I look ridiculously funny.

Not sure what I am going to do when we get more snow...

The piles at the end of our driveway are both taller than me. And the one that the end of the fence. Hopefully the snow will melt a bit before the next big snow fall.

That's crazy! In the past couple days almost all our snow has melted and it's supposed to be above zero for most of this week! We didn't get as much snow as usual in central AB this year... at least I don't think so. And I never had snow piles anywhere near as tall as me. :)

Our snow piles are also ridiculously high, taller than me anyway.

And poor CT couldn't get his car out of the driveway this morning, even with my brother's help. Yesterday I did say to CT that I didn't think his car was getting out until spring, but I didn't really mean it!

Brampton is so not in the "snowbelt" either. I don't think we've shovelled more than a couple of times in a year. This year, we seem to have to shovel at least twice every month (We don't shovel during storms, only when they are done! ;)).

If we hadn't shovelled during the storms we would have been completely snowed in. on top of the 35 cm of snow from the storm, at least twice that blew into our driveway (either off the yard or off the roof).

I think we've been averaging shovelling twice a week this winter!!!

Welcome to the snow belt LJ. I don't envy you. :)

My parents generally don't shovel unless we get more than 10 cm. They just drive over it. Our neighbours shovel if there's ONE cm! That's just crazy.

Our driveway was sheltered by our large snow piles. And our houses are close together, so we don't get the same drifting. We had 30 cm on our driveway when we went out to shovel.
