My mom just found out last night that she has been excepted into a PhD program! She starts in November and is going to do it part-time, so it will likely take her about 4 years to complete. Go mom! I am so proud of her!
You're Mom is amazing! Please pass on my congratulations...
My Mum has been working on some accounting courses via the net. She passed her last one and is likely working on the next portion - seeing as how my dad is in Saudi right now (she does her courses when he's away).
Nej and C-dub. Sciences are supposed to take the longest for grad school. Engineering is usually 3-4 years for a PhD, arts programs usually don't take as long since the thesis aren't dependent on field work or laboratory experiments which can take a LONG time. Arts masters usually take a year, whereas engineering is 2-3 and science (at least at waterloo) is pretty much guaranteed to be at least 3 years.
My Dad's was physics. But I know he took way longer than necessary. He goofed off some, did all this extra work, and towards the end was also looking for a paying job. And of course, he spent a great deal of time golfing. LOL.

4 years part time? That's pretty fast!
It took my Dad 10 years for his. But then he tends to be a time waster sometimes. Still, 4 years is what I've heard it takes for full-time Ph.D's.
Regardless, awesome for your mom! Go Diane! :D
Well maybe she means full-time, I don't know. She is thinking it would take her 3-4 years. That may be a little ambitious, we'll see.
