Another crisis

My mom went into the hospital last night with extreme pain in her abdomen. Turns out it is her gall bladder, there are stones in it and it is very inflamed. So, they will need to remove it as soon as possible. Poor mummy. I just went in to see her and see is doing okay (thanks to morphine) although she is incredible tired (she can’t sleep much because she is on a bed in the hallway) and she is also really thirsty (but she can’t drink anything since she’ll be having surgery). She is waiting for the surgeon to come and talk to her about the surgery. She doesn’t know when that will happen, but hopefully today. They said she won’t be able to leave until they remove the gall bladder, so the sooner the better I think. What a scare. I got a phone message when I got out of a meeting here at work just saying mom is in the hospital. So, naturally, I rushed over there. At that point I didn’t know how serious it was. Turns out it’s not life threatening, thank The Lord! I was praying the whole way over there. Man, that was scary! I’m going to stop in again on my way home from work and hopefully we’ll know more then.

I'm sorry your mom isn't well. Vanessa went through the same thing and it looked awful. She's fine now though. :)

It's weird how this stuff happens. My mom has been having pains in her abdomen since last fall. She went for an ultrasound a few weeks ago and now has another appointment to discuss what they found. I'm a little worried about her, but she doesn't seem too scared so I guess I'll just have to wait and see... I hate waiting for this sort of thing though!

By the way, my parents are probably in your neck of the woods today. They were taking a mini-vacation for my mom's birthday, which is today! :)

I thought about your mom today since I knew it was her birthday. I hope they are having a great time!

I have also heard of other people who have had to have their gall bladders removed and are fine now. My mom is worried that she may not be able to come to my shower on Friday. I told her not to worry about it, to concentrate on getting better! Besides, if they do the surgery today, and it goes smoothly, she may feel up to coming to the shower, we'll have to wait and see.

The good thing is she just finished teaching last week and now has 10 weeks off. Of course, there's never a 'good' time for this to happen, but at least now she was off work anyways.

I hope your mom's abdominal pains are nothing serious! And I know what you mean about hating all the waiting and not knowing.

Oh dear, that's awful! Your poor mommy.

My mum had the same thing a few years ago...except her gall bladder had some gangrene, which made the situation very, very bad. She had it all removed, and is super-duper now.

I hope your mom feels better soon!!
