Weekend was relaxing.

My weekend was quite good, I didn’t really do too much. Yesterday, was my grandmother’s 79th birthday, so CT, my mom, and I took her out for lunch after church. Other than that, my weekend was pretty quiet. Smokey is still doing well, we reduced his meds on the weekend, he’s down to 1 pill per day now for the next 2 weeks. If he’s still doing well in 2 weeks, then we can stop the medication completely and just keep him on the good food. I am so glad that he’s been doing better lately! He seems even more happy now than before this whole ordeal. Makes me wonder if maybe he had some crystals in his urine for awhile which was causing him pain before it actually blocked up.

Koby is still doing well also. He has not had another seizure since Thursday, so we’re happy about that. He may/will likely get more in the future, but since it’s been 4 days since his last one, then he is likely not going to be one of those dogs that gets cluster seizures (more than 1 per 24 hours).

This coming week at work is going to be a busy one since I have a big project due on Friday. And I am going to be out of town all day tomorrow meeting with a client. Good thing I have a massage booked for tomorrow evening, I’m going to need it!

Hitch-hiker has not called me since Friday. I stopped by on my way home to drop off the things he forgot on his desk and to pick up his keys. So that should be all I hear from him. It’s so nice to have my rides to work alone back! I never realized how much I liked the peace and quiet on my way to work until I started giving him rides. And now I don’t have to wait for him outside his house every morning anymore, it’s great!

What kind of Food was smokey on before all this happened? I'm just curious.

Glad that Smokey and Koby are continueing to do well, and happy birthday christine's grandma!

Smokey was on "Nutrience" before the ordeal. About 2 weeks before he had the blockage, we switched him from the kitten formula to the adult formula. I have checked the recall list a few times, and it is not on there. The vet even said that Nutrience is pretty good food, so who knows what happened.

The food that he's on now is Royan Canin Urinary S/O and it is designed to lower the pH of the urine so struvite crytals cannot form.

Man, I have learned so much about feline lower urinary tract disorder (FLUTD) in the last few weeks!

Speaking of food...

Does Koby have food allergies? We had to take Bailey to the vet on Saturday because he was chewing his paw pads (raw). At first we had him on Canidae, allergies showed up, then we put him on Innova, a year later allergies showed up. Now we just put him on Go! Wild Salmon & Potato in the hopes that his allergies will become subdued.

We can't use plastic or stainless steel bowls because his face swells up like a pumpkin.

Does Koby have any of these problems? Is he on a lamb & rice food or fish & potato?

Gosh I hope Bailey doesn't develop seizures...

As far as I know, Koby doesn't have any food allergies.

My parents were feeding him Kibbles N Bits, but they are switching now to Medi-Cal from the vet.

I hope Bailey never has seizures too! But at least you'll know what is happening if he ever does and not freak out like my mom did. She knows now that if he has another one, to turn the lights off, make it a quiet and soothing environment for him instead of screaming at the top of her lungs!
