I spent the weekend in Toronto visiting a friend. She lives near Dundas and Spadina, in the heart of Chinatown. It was a lot of fun! We went to art galleries, went shopping in Yorkville, watched the leafs game at a sports pub, and watched a couple movies. When we were shopping in Yorkville, we went into La Senza and both found a bra that we wanted to buy. I have a 10% discount card, so I said I would pay for both bras and then she could benefit from my discount and then she could give me the cash for hers after. So, both bras were $35 each. I had a 10% discount card and I also had a coupon for $5 off. So, guess what our total was? $32.08 for both bras! I wasn't really paying attention to the total at the time because we were talking away. Then we got outside and she asked me how much she owed me for hers, so I got out the receipt and realized they had taken off like $30 instead of $5. Score! Since I didn't look at the coupon ahead of time, maybe it was $5 off for every so much you spend or something. Or maybe they screwed up, I don't know. But I was pleased! I got a bra that would have normally been $40 with taxes for $16. Yay!
Well, back to work tomorrow. One of my office mates is gone on vacation for the next 2 weeks, so it will be a lot more quiet in my office! Which is good because I have a heck of a lot of work to get done. The last 2 weeks I have spent writing proposals, so none of my regular work got done. Time to do some catching up this week! And I have a client meeting on friday to get ready for.
On the man front, I haven't had any new dates recently, just haven't had the time. I have a few that want to meet me, so hopefully I can set something up with them soon. I was supposed to have a date this coming saturday with one of them, but I was talking to him tonight and he said that he just recently (as in this weekend) met someone else and he doesn't want to meet someone new until he figures out whether it's going anywhere with her. Which is respectable, but I guess I come from the perspective of meet lots of people and then when you decide to get serious with someone, then be exclusive. I guess he's one of those men who only dates one person at a time, even if it's totally casual. He's still not sure though because he really wants to meet me and we;ve had this date set for like 2 weeks, much longer than he has been corresponding with the new girl. Who knows, we may still go out on Saturday. Unless I line up a different guy for that evening since I can't seem to get a straight answer out of this guy ;)

Election mumbojumbo...
I am feeling very alone in my principles among this blogging gang, but that’s alright, I’m okay with it ;)
I am one of the many in the country who is really happy with the outcome of the election last night. I read the platform of all the parties before voting to decide which party I wanted to support. The reality is that the conservative party has the values and principles that I agree with the most. What drives me nuts is when people say “Whatever you do, don’t vote conservative!” That militancy makes me mad and frankly, is kind of scary. Never once have I tried to influence anyone else’s vote or push my views/beliefs on anyone else or make them feel inferior because of political beliefs. So why do people do it to me? Every Canadian has the right to vote for the party they choose to support. And obviously I’m not totally alone in my principles since the conservatives got 36% of the popular vote, so it sounds like a lot of people agree with that party’s platform.
Okay, onto other things:
This weekend, I am going to Toronto to visit one of my friends who I haven’t seen in about 4 years. I am super-excited to see her again! One of those cases where we lost touch after I left for university and we crossed paths again a few weeks ago. This weekend, I’m staying in downtown Toronto at her apartment, so it should be an adventure to say the least! She’s a student at the Ontario College of Art and Design, so she’s going to show me some cool art galleries and stuff.

Raise talk
I am still on the fence about whether to talk to my boss about my raise. I found out that I got a much higher raise than my collegues. (Some of them offered the information of how much of a raise they got, I wasn't going to ask). But, 2 of them offered the information. One got zero raise, one got 2%. One of my coworkers who has been around for many years said that once, when there was a different leader to our group and things were really good, she got 7%. I got a 10% raise for each of the last 2 years. My raise is looking really good compared to what others got! I have never heard of anyone getting as high as I did, the highest I've heard for someone else this year was 2%, and I got 10%! So, I'm thinking I should just stick with what I got.
The fact that they have been giving me such a substaintial raise the last 2 years shows that they really value my work and think I'm doing a great job. I am still a little below the OSPE's salary survey range for my level of experience, but oh well. I figure once you add my bonuses and the awesome pension plan and health plan, those would put me into that range. I'm not working in Toronto, so that would make a difference. One more year and I should make it into the range for my salary. And, it's only a little more than a year now until I can get my P.Eng.! Yay! Then, I should get a massive raise! And money is only part of it. Job satisfaction is really important too and I do love my job! So, I think I will decide to accept the raise I was given. I don't want to seem liek a whiner, especially since I got way more than most people.

Cdub the heartbreaker...
The guy I went out with on friday, SM for you kbum ;), asked me out again. I really don't want to go out with him again. He is really nice, just not for me. For many reasons. So, once again, I'll have to let a guy down. Man! I'm going to start getting a reputation soon ;) I just don't want to settle, I want to find the guy who is right for me. So, I will have to continue my search, back to the drawing board. How many more "wrong" guys do I have to meet before I meet the right one??? Sheesh!!
In other news, I found out about my raise yesterday. It is slightly lower than I was hoping for. I went down to talk to my boss about something else and he said "Congrats by the way. We were happy to be able to give you that raise to show how much we appreciate your hard work and dedication. Most people didn't get nearly that much". So now I don't know what to do. I would have been happy with this raise if I was doing the same job I was a year ago, but I got a huge promotion last April, so I should be getting a huge raise too. I will think about it and perhaps I'll have a little chat with the boss tomorrow. I don't want to make it sound like I dont' appreciate the raise that I got, but I was hoping for a little more. I'll ask my mom how to word it nicely, she's good at these things.

Fun fun fun!
Last night, I went to the Toronto Rock game as a first date. A new guy, I'll call him SM. Kind of unorthodax for a first date, especially since we went with 2 of his friends, but SM got some tickets from a friend and needed to use them. Since I had not gotten any type of creepy vibe from him to date, I decided to take him up on his offer. I drove since I figured I had a little more control that way. We met up with his friends in Bomanville, so at least we had some time to chat just the 2 of us first. SM is a really nice guy, I had fun with him. Easy to talk to, funny, the usually deal. I had seen pictures of him prior to meeting, so I knew he was a good looking guy, just a little on the big side. I guess pictures can be a little deceiving because he really is quite large. Which isn't a big deal or anything, just a little bit of a surprise since he really didn't look THAT big in his pics. But oh well. The Rock lost, but it was a close one and I had a good time anyways. After the game, we went to Don Cherrys for wings. So that was nice. Got in at about 1:30am last night, and I had to get up at 8am this morning, so it was a short night! Although, SM had to get up at 5am this morning for work, so I'm not complaining. When I woke up this morning, I had an email from him saying he had a great time and that he hopes we can go out again sometime soon. I am one popular chick! ;)
Today, I had my "girlie" day. I got my nails done, haircut, and then went to my coworkers "secret" party. So, we walk into my coworker's place, and there is a stripper pole in her living room. Yes, that's right, I have just been to my first pole dancing party. It was A LOT of fun! I totally loved it! The instructor would show us a move, then we took turns practicing it. Then, after several moves, we put them all together in a routine. It was SOOOOO fun! And a really good workout too! We only did beginner moves, but then afterwards she showed us some more advanced moves. The instructor said I was a natural and on some of the moves, I put my own "spin" on them, and the instructor said she was going to have to use my moves sometime! Nice! A professional pole dancer is going to use MY moves, who knew?!?! She has a studio in Whitby and does classes there, so I am considering taking some of her classes. Then I'll have to get a pole in my house to I can practice ;)

Presentation went well.
I did the presentation to municipal council last night. I think it went pretty well. I was nervous, but I don't think it was too noticeable, you're always most critical of yourself, so I doubt anyone else picked up on my nervousness too much. All in all it was a long day, 15 hours in total! And I started at 8am as usual this morning. My boss told me he'd understand if I was late (given the late hour we got home), but I decided to go in ontime anyways to maximize the amount of overtime I worked this week. I need all the money I can get! This being a single homeowner stuff is expensive!
On the man front, I have a first date with a new boy on friday evening. Yay! Then on saturday, I have having a totally girlie day and getting my nails done, getting a haircut, and going to a "secret/mystery" party that a coworker is having. Here is all I know about this party: there will only be women present, the lady that is coming to run the party is the only one in this part of Ontario to do them, she guarantees that none of us have ever been to a party like this before, the cost is $20/person, I will not be asked to buy anything, book my own party, and I won't leave with anything. I am totally stumped!!! Any guesses as to what it could possibly be?!?

Not much new here.
Well, this week was a pretty good one. I went to the gym 4 times and watched hockey and whatnot. Yay for the canadian juniors winning the gold! And against russia with a score of 5:0 no less! It was pretty sweet!
On Tuesday evening, I am giving my first ever presentation to muncipal Council of one of our clients. Yikes! I am slightly nervous. And the manager of my department is coming with me, so he'll see firsthand if I blow it... or nail it, I guess I should remain positive. I just really hope things go well!
Nothing new right now on the man front. I have some possible guys to meet, just need to actually set it up. Perhaps next weekend.

Resolutions
So here we are at the beginning of another year. Hard to believe. I have been thinking about some new years resolutions, and here is what i came up with for 2006:
1) Lose 15 pounds. This is a repeat from last year. But this time I mean busniess ;)
2) Continue doing triathlons, work up to an olympic distance tri.
3) Move into my very own house and decorate it however I want to!
4) Find my man. My life seems to be coming together (house, career, etc.) yet I don't have that special someone to enjoy life with! Here's hoping I find my man this year! If I don't, no big deal, but it sure would be nice!
So Nikkers asked about date #2 with tallboy. It was okay, but my initial impression that he is not by type was confirmed. So, I had to tell him today that I just wasn't interested in seeing him again since we just didn't have that chemistry. He seemed to understand, so it's all good. So it's back to the drawing board. Time to meet some new boys!
