I spent the weekend in Toronto visiting a friend. She lives near Dundas and Spadina, in the heart of Chinatown. It was a lot of fun! We went to art galleries, went shopping in Yorkville, watched the leafs game at a sports pub, and watched a couple movies. When we were shopping in Yorkville, we went into La Senza and both found a bra that we wanted to buy. I have a 10% discount card, so I said I would pay for both bras and then she could benefit from my discount and then she could give me the cash for hers after. So, both bras were $35 each. I had a 10% discount card and I also had a coupon for $5 off. So, guess what our total was? $32.08 for both bras! I wasn't really paying attention to the total at the time because we were talking away. Then we got outside and she asked me how much she owed me for hers, so I got out the receipt and realized they had taken off like $30 instead of $5. Score! Since I didn't look at the coupon ahead of time, maybe it was $5 off for every so much you spend or something. Or maybe they screwed up, I don't know. But I was pleased! I got a bra that would have normally been $40 with taxes for $16. Yay!
Well, back to work tomorrow. One of my office mates is gone on vacation for the next 2 weeks, so it will be a lot more quiet in my office! Which is good because I have a heck of a lot of work to get done. The last 2 weeks I have spent writing proposals, so none of my regular work got done. Time to do some catching up this week! And I have a client meeting on friday to get ready for.
On the man front, I haven't had any new dates recently, just haven't had the time. I have a few that want to meet me, so hopefully I can set something up with them soon. I was supposed to have a date this coming saturday with one of them, but I was talking to him tonight and he said that he just recently (as in this weekend) met someone else and he doesn't want to meet someone new until he figures out whether it's going anywhere with her. Which is respectable, but I guess I come from the perspective of meet lots of people and then when you decide to get serious with someone, then be exclusive. I guess he's one of those men who only dates one person at a time, even if it's totally casual. He's still not sure though because he really wants to meet me and we;ve had this date set for like 2 weeks, much longer than he has been corresponding with the new girl. Who knows, we may still go out on Saturday. Unless I line up a different guy for that evening since I can't seem to get a straight answer out of this guy ;)

Election mumbojumbo...
I am feeling very alone in my principles among this blogging gang, but that’s alright, I’m okay with it ;)
I am one of the many in the country who is really happy with the outcome of the election last night. I read the platform of all the parties before voting to decide which party I wanted to support. The reality is that the conservative party has the values and principles that I agree with the most. What drives me nuts is when people say “Whatever you do, don’t vote conservative!” That militancy makes me mad and frankly, is kind of scary. Never once have I tried to influence anyone else’s vote or push my views/beliefs on anyone else or make them feel inferior because of political beliefs. So why do people do it to me? Every Canadian has the right to vote for the party they choose to support. And obviously I’m not totally alone in my principles since the conservatives got 36% of the popular vote, so it sounds like a lot of people agree with that party’s platform.
Okay, onto other things:
This weekend, I am going to Toronto to visit one of my friends who I haven’t seen in about 4 years. I am super-excited to see her again! One of those cases where we lost touch after I left for university and we crossed paths again a few weeks ago. This weekend, I’m staying in downtown Toronto at her apartment, so it should be an adventure to say the least! She’s a student at the Ontario College of Art and Design, so she’s going to show me some cool art galleries and stuff.

Raise talk
I am still on the fence about whether to talk to my boss about my raise. I found out that I got a much higher raise than my collegues. (Some of them offered the information of how much of a raise they got, I wasn't going to ask). But, 2 of them offered the information. One got zero raise, one got 2%. One of my coworkers who has been around for many years said that once, when there was a different leader to our group and things were really good, she got 7%. I got a 10% raise for each of the last 2 years. My raise is looking really good compared to what others got! I have never heard of anyone getting as high as I did, the highest I've heard for someone else this year was 2%, and I got 10%! So, I'm thinking I should just stick with what I got.
The fact that they have been giving me such a substaintial raise the last 2 years shows that they really value my work and think I'm doing a great job. I am still a little below the OSPE's salary survey range for my level of experience, but oh well. I figure once you add my bonuses and the awesome pension plan and health plan, those would put me into that range. I'm not working in Toronto, so that would make a difference. One more year and I should make it into the range for my salary. And, it's only a little more than a year now until I can get my P.Eng.! Yay! Then, I should get a massive raise! And money is only part of it. Job satisfaction is really important too and I do love my job! So, I think I will decide to accept the raise I was given. I don't want to seem liek a whiner, especially since I got way more than most people.

Cdub the heartbreaker...
The guy I went out with on friday, SM for you kbum ;), asked me out again. I really don't want to go out with him again. He is really nice, just not for me. For many reasons. So, once again, I'll have to let a guy down. Man! I'm going to start getting a reputation soon ;) I just don't want to settle, I want to find the guy who is right for me. So, I will have to continue my search, back to the drawing board. How many more "wrong" guys do I have to meet before I meet the right one??? Sheesh!!
In other news, I found out about my raise yesterday. It is slightly lower than I was hoping for. I went down to talk to my boss about something else and he said "Congrats by the way. We were happy to be able to give you that raise to show how much we appreciate your hard work and dedication. Most people didn't get nearly that much". So now I don't know what to do. I would have been happy with this raise if I was doing the same job I was a year ago, but I got a huge promotion last April, so I should be getting a huge raise too. I will think about it and perhaps I'll have a little chat with the boss tomorrow. I don't want to make it sound like I dont' appreciate the raise that I got, but I was hoping for a little more. I'll ask my mom how to word it nicely, she's good at these things.

Fun fun fun!
Last night, I went to the Toronto Rock game as a first date. A new guy, I'll call him SM. Kind of unorthodax for a first date, especially since we went with 2 of his friends, but SM got some tickets from a friend and needed to use them. Since I had not gotten any type of creepy vibe from him to date, I decided to take him up on his offer. I drove since I figured I had a little more control that way. We met up with his friends in Bomanville, so at least we had some time to chat just the 2 of us first. SM is a really nice guy, I had fun with him. Easy to talk to, funny, the usually deal. I had seen pictures of him prior to meeting, so I knew he was a good looking guy, just a little on the big side. I guess pictures can be a little deceiving because he really is quite large. Which isn't a big deal or anything, just a little bit of a surprise since he really didn't look THAT big in his pics. But oh well. The Rock lost, but it was a close one and I had a good time anyways. After the game, we went to Don Cherrys for wings. So that was nice. Got in at about 1:30am last night, and I had to get up at 8am this morning, so it was a short night! Although, SM had to get up at 5am this morning for work, so I'm not complaining. When I woke up this morning, I had an email from him saying he had a great time and that he hopes we can go out again sometime soon. I am one popular chick! ;)
Today, I had my "girlie" day. I got my nails done, haircut, and then went to my coworkers "secret" party. So, we walk into my coworker's place, and there is a stripper pole in her living room. Yes, that's right, I have just been to my first pole dancing party. It was A LOT of fun! I totally loved it! The instructor would show us a move, then we took turns practicing it. Then, after several moves, we put them all together in a routine. It was SOOOOO fun! And a really good workout too! We only did beginner moves, but then afterwards she showed us some more advanced moves. The instructor said I was a natural and on some of the moves, I put my own "spin" on them, and the instructor said she was going to have to use my moves sometime! Nice! A professional pole dancer is going to use MY moves, who knew?!?! She has a studio in Whitby and does classes there, so I am considering taking some of her classes. Then I'll have to get a pole in my house to I can practice ;)

Presentation went well.
I did the presentation to municipal council last night. I think it went pretty well. I was nervous, but I don't think it was too noticeable, you're always most critical of yourself, so I doubt anyone else picked up on my nervousness too much. All in all it was a long day, 15 hours in total! And I started at 8am as usual this morning. My boss told me he'd understand if I was late (given the late hour we got home), but I decided to go in ontime anyways to maximize the amount of overtime I worked this week. I need all the money I can get! This being a single homeowner stuff is expensive!
On the man front, I have a first date with a new boy on friday evening. Yay! Then on saturday, I have having a totally girlie day and getting my nails done, getting a haircut, and going to a "secret/mystery" party that a coworker is having. Here is all I know about this party: there will only be women present, the lady that is coming to run the party is the only one in this part of Ontario to do them, she guarantees that none of us have ever been to a party like this before, the cost is $20/person, I will not be asked to buy anything, book my own party, and I won't leave with anything. I am totally stumped!!! Any guesses as to what it could possibly be?!?

Not much new here.
Well, this week was a pretty good one. I went to the gym 4 times and watched hockey and whatnot. Yay for the canadian juniors winning the gold! And against russia with a score of 5:0 no less! It was pretty sweet!
On Tuesday evening, I am giving my first ever presentation to muncipal Council of one of our clients. Yikes! I am slightly nervous. And the manager of my department is coming with me, so he'll see firsthand if I blow it... or nail it, I guess I should remain positive. I just really hope things go well!
Nothing new right now on the man front. I have some possible guys to meet, just need to actually set it up. Perhaps next weekend.

Resolutions
So here we are at the beginning of another year. Hard to believe. I have been thinking about some new years resolutions, and here is what i came up with for 2006:
1) Lose 15 pounds. This is a repeat from last year. But this time I mean busniess ;)
2) Continue doing triathlons, work up to an olympic distance tri.
3) Move into my very own house and decorate it however I want to!
4) Find my man. My life seems to be coming together (house, career, etc.) yet I don't have that special someone to enjoy life with! Here's hoping I find my man this year! If I don't, no big deal, but it sure would be nice!
So Nikkers asked about date #2 with tallboy. It was okay, but my initial impression that he is not by type was confirmed. So, I had to tell him today that I just wasn't interested in seeing him again since we just didn't have that chemistry. He seemed to understand, so it's all good. So it's back to the drawing board. Time to meet some new boys!

Christmas was good
I had a pretty good Christmas. Lots of good food and time with family. Santa was good to me as well, I got am mp3 player, dvds, books, and stuff for my house. Yay! Oh, and I also got a pair of toronto maple leaf fuzzy dice for Zeke (my car). Cool! I am so glad to have this week off work. I was ready for a break. I still love my job, just needed a little time to relax.
I went out with blondecurls again last night. We went to a sportsbar to watch the leafs game. And they won - yay! I really like blondecurls, he is a great guy. I'm not sure if we would work as a couple, but I would definately like to get to know him better and hang out with him. Who knows what may happen. I'm not sure he's the one for me, but hey, I could always use more cool guys to hang out with.
I finally have date #2 with tallboy tomorrow. I was supposed to go out with him last week, but had to cancel because I wanted to go to my brother's play.
Scorpio also wants to see me again. I'm not sure I really want to see him again though. I may go out with him for a third time and then make my decision on whether to break the poor dears heart and tell him I'm not interested.
There are 2 other guys who want to meet me, I just haven't had time to set anything up with them yet. Man, I'm so busy! What am I going to do when I have to fit work into my schedule again?!?! :P

Okay, he's hot.
Last night, I went with a friend to see blondecurls' band play here in town. Holy cow, there's something about lead singers, they are totally hot! I really enjoyed his show. I basically just sat there and drooled ;)
We talked a bit before he went on and after his set as well, and he expressed interest that he would like to see me again. So, I'm going to wait a day or two if I haven't heard from him and send him and email and try to set something up.
Watching him on stage, my friend and I came to the following conclusions:
- he is totally hot (as mentioned above)
- he has the best hair (so cute, you just want to touch it! My friend told me to give her all the details on his hair if I get to touch it)
- he has killer arms
- he has a really good butt
- he has a good sense of style
Other than all the shallow, appearance-typed attributes, he also seems like a super-nice guy. The kind of guy you could take home to mom. I haven't got to spend a lot of time with him one-on-one yet, so hopefully that will change soon! Then I can get a better idea of what he's really like. My first impression says he's a good one, but, you never know. Here's hoping. And, if he turns out not to be a good one, I still have several more guys that want to meet me. So many men, so little time ;)

Scrapbooking fun!
I did about 4 or 5 pages in the scrapbook for my grandmother today. My mom and I are giving it to her for Christmas. It is going to be all about her adventures in Canada, starting from when she came over from Germany on a boat over 50 years ago. She is going to be so surprised, especially since she probably doesn't even know these pictures exist! I think we are about 1/3 finished the book, which isn't bad considering we only started it on Monday evening. We should be done by Christmas, no problem ;)
So, last night, I had to cancel my date with tallboy since my brother's homeschooling group was putting on Romeo and Juliet. They had been working on it for months, so I really wanted to go and watch it. Tom played Mercutio, he did such a good job!
On Thursday evening, I am going to watch blondecurls band play here in town. If you want to check him out, his band's website is: http://www.batwband.com/ and he is the lead singer. Then you will see why I call him blondecurls ;) He seems excited that I am coming out to watch him play, hopefully I will get to spend some 1-on-1 time with him sometime next week since I have the week off! Yay!
Only 2 more days of work this year! I don't go back until January 2, 2006! Yay!

3 dates in 4 days makes c-dub a tired girl
On friday evening, I did end up hearing from blondecurls. I gues he has been really busy with a big show with his band coming up and didn't get my email until then. So, we met up last night for a pint to mourn the terrible loss that the leafs incurred against the sens. Even though I was sad about the loss, I had a great time with blondecurls. He is a really cool guy. Of the 3 guys I have recently had dates with, I feel the best connection with blondecurls. So, we'll see. He's the only one of the 3 that I don't have a second date set up with. I'm hoping he wants to see me again, but who knows. Only time will tell. I wish I could know what he thought of the first date! Although, if I thought there was a connection, chances are he did too.

The good news and the bad news
Which do you want first?
The bad news is that I still haven't heard from the guy that I am supposed to be meeting up with on Saturday, blondecurls I'll call him. I just don't get it. He was all keen on meeting, so we set a date, and then I never heard back from him. It doesn't really matter to me if he's changed his mind, that just doesn't make sense because he was so gung-ho about it. Men!
The good news is that the guy I had the date with tonight, scorpio I'll call him, and it went really well! I didn't realize that he's quite a bit younger than me. He is 3 years younger, but you wouldn't know it. He is quite mature for his age, in that he has a full-time permanent job and recently bought his own house. So, I guess we're at the same point in our lives. He's a really nice guy, we seem to have a connection, too early to tell for sure, but I would like to see him again. I think he wants to see me again too.
I also have a second date with tallboy (don't you love all these names I made up for all my men?) on Tuesday. I don't think it was a match, but I want to go on a second date to see what happens. Sometimes it's hard to tell with a first meeting.

Anybody watch CSI Miami last night?
I fell asleep before the end, so I missed the ending. I saw up until the part when the found the brother. Can anybody fill me in on how it ended?
I hope everyone is having a good Christmas season! Hard to believe it's less than 2 weeks away now! I still have some shopping to do, but I'm in pretty good shape.
I have 2 more dates lined up for this week, 1 on Thursday, 1 on Saturday. I am more excited about the one on Saturday because it seems like that guy and I would be a better match, but you never know. Should be a good week!

So many men...
...so little time!
Man, doing this online thing, I have about 6 or 7 guys who want to meet me. It is a little overwhelming!
I met "tallboy" last night. We went and had a beer and I made a fool of myself during a couple of games of pool. Man, I suck at that game. But I had a good time nonetheless! He is a really nice guy, I'm just don't think it's a match. He is keen on seeing me again, so I may get together with him for a second date, we'll see.
I have a first date with another guy set up for next saturday night. We're going to go to a sports bar and watch the leafs game together. He suggested it...how perfect is that?!?! I like this guy already ;)
I think I'm turning into a guy. Never before have I dated more than one person at a time, even if it is the non-committal casual getting to know each other type stuff. It's fun!
Well, I'm headed off soon to my department's christmas party (yes, we have one in addition to the company one that was last weekend). I am getting a ride with a coworker, so I can drink at this one! Yay!

It's fun!

T minus 1 hour
I have a date will "tallboy" (let's call him) in 1 hour. I'm not nervous yet, although I may be. I guess I don't really have any expectations, so I have no reason to be nervous. If we don't click, I don't have to see him again. I have plenty of other prospects ;)

Oh crap
Just got a call from my tenants. Apparently, the 4 hours dad and I spent at the house didn't entirely fix the problem. Well, now, instead of the faucet running in the tub, there is streams of water from the kitchen cieling whenever someone takes a shower. So, back to the drawing board. Dad and I will likely have to take the tiles off again (good thing we have extras!). I have a feeling it is the pipe going up to the showerhead that is the problem. Likely needs some new sauder joints. That's just all I needed. Another phone call that it's still not working. Sheesh. The good news is that there is a shower in the main floor bathroom. It is not nearly as nice as the upstairs one, but they can use it in the meantime before the other one is fixed. Sigh, the joys of owning an older home!

I was a handywoman today
I had to go down to my house with my Dad to fix the faucet in the shower. It was quite a job! We had to rip out some of the tiles, cut the pipes, re-sauder the pipes, fix all the leaks (which took a few attempts and had to cut one of the pipes again and install new pipe and joints), re-drywall, re-tile... it was quite the job! Took us 4 hours in total. It was so great that my Dad helped me, I had to pay for the parts ($120) and then I bought him a case of beer for all his hard work. We also had to replace a light fixture. So it was a long morning! But, everything is fixed, so hopefully that will keep my tenants happy for a little while at least. Sigh, ownership of an older house... lots of upkeep required! I just can't wait until I move in and have everything just the way I want it.
I'm headed off to my company's Christmas party in a couple hours. Should be good times! I think I'm going to drive to this one. It's a cash bar and I don't really want to spend the money. Next Saturday is my department's Christmas party, and I already scored a ride with someone else to that, so I can drink that night.
In other news, since lj went on lavalife, I decided I would give it another go. So, I've been on again for a few weeks. I have found a lot of cool people and I have a date on friday to meet one of them. Of course, now I'm doing the whole nervous wreck freak out thing. He wanted to pick me up, but since I barely know him, I thought it would be better to meet there. We're doing to a local pool place/pub for a couple beers and some pool.
It's a busy time of year!

As per Niki's request...
Last night, we had a birthday dinner for me. It was great! My family NEVER sits down to eat a meal together, so it was so nice for all of us to spend some time together over dinner. And both of my brothers were there for an entire hour before Al had to leave to see his girlfriend whom he spends practically every waking minute with. Can you tell I'm a little bitter?!?
I really love my bro, and we get along super-well. I just hate that everytime he gets a girlfriend he spends ALL HIS TIME with her, and then me and my other bro kind of lose a brother. It stinks. Sooner or later Al has to realize that it's not healthly to spend all your time with the same person and neglect your family and friends in the process. Anyways, I'm sure he'll grow up sometime.
Okay, so Niki asked about my prezzies. I got some cool stuff! I got a new toaster that is wide enough for bagels from parents, a "gift certificate" for toronto maple leafs colours paint for my house (I'm doing my guest room with the toronto maple leafs theme) from my parents, a necklace from my granny, star wars 3 from Al, and a Thousand Foot Krutch cd from Tom. And on the weekend, I got a really trendy necklace from lj and a matching earrings and bracelet set from mm. So I got some really sweet things!
